Today, the situation in Ukraine remains difficult. The war has resulted in a significant number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and left many residents without basic services. People face serious difficulties not only in accessing medical services, but also in meeting their deep psychosocial needs. 

The situation is particularly difficult for residents of remote villages and small towns, where access to qualified psychological care is limited. These individuals often find themselves alone with their struggles, which takes a toll on their mental health. 

Recognizing the importance of supporting the mental health of Ukrainians during this challenging time, our organization has decided to introduce a psychological support program. We are committed to providing assistance to those in greatest need and ensuring access to professional psychological services for everyone. 

We are pleased to see the stigma around seeking psychological help gradually fading. The pain often comes through in simple words like, “I just need to talk.” More and more people are taking the brave step of consulting a psychologist, even “just in case.” It’s not always an easy decision – and that’s okay. 

Doctors at the PAL-UA mobile clinic pay close attention to patients’ behavioral and emotional responses during examinations. When necessary, they recommend a psychologist consultation, inviting patients to a safe space where vulnerability and uncertainty can be expressed, and steps toward emotional stability can begin. 

We offer both individual consultations and group sessions for people of all ages. Our specialists use a variety of methods, including: 

  • Art therapy (drawing, sculpting, music therapy) 
  • Lectures and workshops 
  • Psychological and emotional support groups

When can a consultation with a psychologist be particularly helpful? 

  • Anxiety and stress: Persistent feelings of worry or tension. 
  • Depression: Feelings of hopelessness, loss of interest in life or constant sadness. 
  • Relationship problems: Communication or conflict difficulties with relatives. 
  • Low self-esteem: Problems with self-confidence and self-acceptance. 
  • Trauma or grief: Dealing with traumatic events or the loss of a loved one.
